Squeaky Balls

Mommy and Daddy won't let me play with them all the time because I like to do this for hours....

Snow, Snow

Snow, snow go away
Or Mommy won’t take me on my walk today
If you must, drop a bunch
So I can play with you at lunch

Another Trip?

I think Mommy and Daddy are going somewhere again. They're definitely up to something. Last night, Daddy cleaned the kitchen and the bathrooms and Mommy dusted the living room. That almost never happens on the weeknights!! I've gotta find a way to go with them. Since they're taking the big suitcase this time, maybe I can try this...

What a weekend! My brain hurts, my neck hurts, and all 4 legs are killing me! Mommy and Daddy kept complaining about the need for a built-in bookshelf. I didn't know what they were talking about, so I googled it. They helped a little, but it was like pulling teeth to get them to slap on a coat of primer. I would've done it, but I was so tired from climbing up the ladder all day and my paws needed a rest!

Bug Bite

It's been unseasonably warm here (or at least that's what I keep hearing on tv) for a while now. I prefer the cold, but I get more walks when its warm.

Anyway, is it me or are there more bugs out when it's warm? I don't know how I got it, but some little bugger bit me right on the top of my shoulder and I can't seem to scratch at it enough!

Mommy gave me a good back scratch this morning, so maybe I just need to stick to her like glue until these bites stop driving me crazy!

Louie Louie

Mommy and Daddy took me to the elementary school down the road to play with Boomer. I loved it. Boom and I ran and ran, chased a bumper, sometimes retrieved the bumper, and rolled around in the mud. We finally pooped out and were ready to go. We started walking towards the gate when a man and his dog, Louie, showed up.

The man said Louie was friendly. We greeted each other, followed by a second wind of romping. Boomer was too tired to keep up, so I had Louie all to myself. Louie was a good looking fellow with wavy curls of black and white. I asked him what his nationality was and he said he was a water dog from Portugal. I've never heard of that place before, so I looked it up. After all I read, I wouldn't mind having one for a brother!

Gotta Have Faith?

I was cruisin' with my Mommy and Daddy the other day to Home Depot and a song came on the radio. Maybe you've heard of it. It went a little something like, "Cuz you gotta have faith-a faith-a faith-AH...MmmmBabe-ah!" It was a catchy tune and I didn't think anything of it until a few days ago.

Mommy took me out to potty and I had just found my spot when I heard a big WHACK!

"What in the heck?" I thought. It totally scared the bejeezus out of me!

I wasn't even finished pottying when she started with her holier than thou attitude, "WOOF woof woof woof WOOF! woof woof WOof..." She must've gone on for what seemed like an eternity. Since I speak Woof, I know exactly what she was saying.

"You wake me up every single time you come out here. Can't you see I'm trying to get my beauty sleep? Isn't there somewhere else you can be doing that? Why do you have to stink up the side of your yard closest to mine?" yada yada yada...

Then I heard Mommy say, "Faith, shut up."

Do I really gotta have Faith?

Edgar

If you want to catch up on some much needed shut-eye, buy The Story of Edgar Sawtelle for your parents! I bought the book for Mommy and she's been reading it for 4 straight days. I've been in dream heaven...Zzzzzzzz.
Plus, every time Mommy puts the book down she gives me lots of lovies!

Big Girl Bed

After the first of the year, I overheard Mommy talking to Daddy about some big fancy "to-do" list. A couple of the things on her list involved me! She said she wanted to train me to walk nicely on the leash (so I'm a little eager, not a major flaw) and take away my nighttime crate.

I'm very proud to say that I've been sleeping crate free in my big girl bed for 10 straight days now. I still try to sneak up onto Mommy and Daddy's bed every once in a while, but once I settle into my bed I stay there until that annoying beep-beep-beep goes off.

Mommy and Daddy are pretty proud of me and I have to admit, I really like having a little freedom to roam at night.

Now, if I can only convince them to give me an all access pass to the house while they're gone.....

New Years Resolution

Hello Friends,

This 2009, although we're already a month into it, I resolve to post more often. I started strong and I think about this all day long, every day, so I'm just going to do it! No more barking about it, no more thinking about it, I'm just gonna put my little paws to the keyboard and write my heart out. I have to admit though, I've had a little influence from Mommy. She's been reading a blog by a person that updates it daily and sometimes multiple times a day. That's tough competition, but surely motivational.

I'll start with something I shared with my friends on the Lab board:

2008 was a year of firsts for me (I’m only 1.5 yrs) and I had a blast. Since we’re in 2009 now (Happy New Year), I thought I’d share my top 10 funnest things I did in 2008.

10. I ate steak (Mommy and Daddy weren’t too happy about it)

9. Boomer moved in next door (he’s my Golden boyfriend )

8. A new dog park opened (OMG! So much fun! )

7. I learned to swim in a lake

6. I swam in a human pool

5. I swam in the ocean at a real beach for doggies

4. I went snowshoeing (well, Mommy and Daddy were the ones wearing snowshoes)

3. I went hiking

2. I went camping and scared off a bear (well, not really…I didn’t even see the bear, but I have an image to uphold )

1. I discovered sun spots in the living room!!!! (Is this not the best thing ever?)
